The Biomedical Science Programs of Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences retain some of the highest-achieving students at West Career and Technical Academy. Why shouldn't they be offered what other students in nation are offered?

Nevada is considered one of the lowest ranked states in terms of education. This is worrisome in that the students here are not only getting the education that they need, but also the one that they deserve. A lack of resources in Nevada is detrimental to the students, but the students have capability. 

The Biomedical Sciences Club has started the ​College Initiative to provide college preparation to the underclassmen of the Biomedical Science Programs. This means anything from proper study habits to taking the SATs to building a profile that is collegiately competitive. Students in the Biomedical Science Programs at West Career and Technical Academy are among some of the best in the school, Clark County School District, and arguably, Nevada. There is no reason that a high quality college education should evade them. 
 

The purpose of the student run College Initiative is to instill the necessary properties and qualifications within these underclassmen to get the most out of their high school education. It is preparation for the future with résumé building, standardized testing, and other necessary tools that will guarantee students a rewarding post-secondary education.
